Summer Series: Chikwelu, Okeke, Oluehi, Ajibade and Adule hit Super Falcons camp in Houston

Rita Chikwelu, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chrity Adule, Chdinma Okeke, and Tochukwu Oluehi have joined the Super Falcons camp at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Houston, Texas on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spanish based stars, who were named in the 25-player squad for the US Summer Series, were received a warm welcome by the officials at the team’s camp about 2pm local time [8pm Nigerian time], having overcome flight and visa difficulties.

With their arrival in Houston, head coach Randy Waldrum now has 21 players of his squad ahead of the opening match against Jamaica at the BBVA Stadium on Thursday by 10:30pm Nigerian time.

Having missed the morning training, the new arriving players are expected to join the rest of the team in their second training session at BBVA Stadium on Thursday evening.

Before now SavidNews had revealed that five players – SC Sand defender Patricia George, Linkopings striker Uchenna Kanu and Eskilstuna United midfielder duo of Halimatu Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and Madrid defender Osinachi Ohale have been ruled out of the tournament.

Despite troubling logistic concerns, Waldrum still expects captain Asisat Oshoala from Spain, Minsk defender Onome Ebi from Belarus, Bayelsa Queens star Celine Ottah from Nigeria and possibly Paris goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie to join the team.

After Thursday’s opener against the Raggae Girlz, the Super Falcons will continue their engagegement by a meeting with Portugal three days later at the home ground of Houston Dash.

Before traveling to Austin’s Q2 stadium to face four-time World and Olympics champions USA at the home of new Major League Soccer club, Austin FC, on 16 June.
