Waldrum submits provisional list of 25 players to NFF for US Summer Series

Nigeria women’s national team coach Randy Waldrum has submitted a list of 25 players to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the upcoming Summer Series in the US in June, SavidNews can exclusively report.

The Super Falcons are scheduled to compete against host nation and world champions USA alongside Carribean gaints Jamaica and European side Portugal in the four-nation tournament.

The list which will be made public in the coming days by the NFF, is composed of no fewer than 10 home based and 15 foreign based players.

On the roaster, the American coach is offering first time to a number of home based legs following their brilliant display at the NWFL Premiership Super Six tournament in Ijebu Ode last month.

Late in April, Bayelsa Queens had announced ahead of the end of the season break that the team’s quartet of Joy Bokiri, Amanda Mbanda, Abidemi Ibe, and Celine Ottah were included in the list.

However, the Texas-born 64-year-old tactician has stuck with the majority of his foreign based stars, who featured at the Turkish Women’s Cup triumph in February, while absent midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and first chioce goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie are expected to return to the fold.

In the team’s schedule for the competition, the African champions will open their campaign at the Summer Series on June 10 by 10:30pm Nigerian time (4:30 pm local time) at the BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas.

After slugging it out with the Reggae Girls, the Super Falcons will battle Portugal in June 14 at the same venue by 12am Nigerian time (8 local time) before squaring up against the US on June 17 by 2:30 in launch the Q2 Stadium.
