Nigerians football enthusiasts on Sunday continued to lavish praises on the victorious Super Eagles for their 3-1 victory over the Fennecs of Algeria in the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Saturday.

The Super Eagles have maintained their 100 per cent winning record in their campaign toward qualification to the Mundial in 2018 in Russia.

A brace from Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, and a goal from the Super Eagles Captain Mikel Obi ensured the team stayed on top their Group B with 6 points.

Algeria on the wings of being the highest ranked team in Africa was defeated at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in what ex-international, Bright Omakaro described as “fashionable manner’’.

The win actually boosted the Eagles chances of qulifying for the 2018 mundial after two straight wins, first a 2-1 win over Zambia in Ndola and the 3-1 win over Algeria.

Omokaro said that the victory was important to the success and confidence of the team.

“I think the team played well and deserved the result they got.

“I congratulate them as they continue to deliver quality performance to the delight of fans and the progression of the team.

“With this victory the belief is strong in the team that they can go on to qualify if they continue the way they started,’’ Omokaro said.

He added that the players portrayed the right attitude and they gave it their all which eventually gave them the well deserved victory.

“They were determined to win, and they did just that, the fact that they are way ahead in group B shows we are on the right path.

Former Green Eagles player, Felix Owolabi, said: “The most important thing is victory, a team may play well and still not win, what everyone is particular about is who won.

“The Super Eagles’ victory isn’t a fluke, 3-1 is huge, they came prepared and weren’t sloppy.

“All we need against Cameroon is a draw, and with the current form of the players that will be just a piece of the cake.

Henry Nwosu, also an ex-international described the victory as a “five star’’ performance from the Super Eagles.

“I am very pleased with the result, it was a fantastic match and very entertaining as well, they gave their best and got good result.

“With more brilliant performances like this, they will surely go on to qualify for the World Cup,’’ Nwosu said.
