2030 FIFA World Cup: Morocco and Spain strengthen football collaboration

 

The President of the Royal Moroccan University of Football, Mr. Fouzi Laqqa, hosted Mr. Rafael Lozanne, the newly elected President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, at the university headquarters on Tuesday. 

 

The high-level meeting marked an important step in the collaboration between the two footballing nations as they prepare to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Portugal.

 

Mr. Laqqa welcomed Mr. Lozanne with warm congratulations on his recent election, emphasizing the trust placed in him to lead Spanish football. 

 

He underlined the significance of this visit, particularly in assessing the progress of World Cup preparations and reinforcing the historical and cultural ties that have long connected Morocco and Spain. 

 

The Moroccan football chief also stressed the urgency of forming joint committees between the three host nations to ensure a seamless and well-organized tournament.

 

In response, Mr. Lozanne expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and the opportunity to tour Morocco’s advanced football infrastructure. 

 

He commended the country’s remarkable progress in football development, especially in facilities that have positioned Morocco as a key player in global football. 

 

He highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation, not just in tournament organization but also in broader football-related initiatives.

 

Both parties acknowledged the growing expectations from fans and officials over the next five years, a period that will also see special celebrations of Spain’s footballing achievements. 

 

They agreed on the need to accelerate preparations and align efforts to meet FIFA’s standards for the 2030 World Cup.

 

The meeting concluded with a landmark agreement to establish joint committees that will oversee collaborative efforts between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. These committees will conduct rotational meetings across the three host nations in the coming days, ensuring coordinated progress in the tournament’s planning and execution.

 

With this strengthened partnership, Morocco and Spain reaffirm their commitment to delivering a world-class football spectacle in 2030, further solidifying their influence on the global stage.
