ADC Presidential Primary: Atiku Abubakar Cruises To Victory With Wide Margin
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar coasted to a commanding victory in the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), defeating former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen by a wide margin in results announced across several states.
Results released from 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory showed Atiku dominating the exercise with overwhelming victories in key states including Gombe, Kebbi, Yobe, Imo, Anambra, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Nasarawa.
In Gombe State, Atiku secured 136,933 votes to defeat Amaechi, who polled 1,140 votes, while Hayatu-Deen garnered 455 votes. He also recorded impressive victories in Kebbi with 65,523 votes, Yobe with 44,841 votes, and Imo with 52,222 votes.
The former Vice President also emerged victorious in Anambra State with 58,566 votes, defeating Amaechi who polled 17,085 votes, while Hayatu-Deen secured 7,861 votes.
In the Federal Capital Territory, Atiku maintained his lead with 18,704 votes ahead of Amaechi’s 14,721 votes and Hayatu-Deen’s 5,576 votes.
Other results announced showed Atiku polling 25,153 votes in Abia, 23,011 votes in Oyo, 18,395 votes in Ekiti, 18,287 votes in Ondo and 41,649 votes in Nasarawa.
The presidential primary results were announced by returning officers from various states under the supervision of the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Committee, Chief Ikechi Emenike.
With the results declared so far, Atiku has established a strong lead in the race for the ADC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
