Abdullahi Isa hopeful Super Sand Eagles can deliver against Ghana despite Senegal defeats
Super Sand Eagles head coach Abdullahi Isa says his team is well prepared for the upcoming Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Ghana despite suffering defeats in their two-legged friendly series against Senegal.
Senegal secured identical 6-4 victories over Nigeria in both friendly matches played in Kaduna on Saturday and Monday.
Despite the results, Isa was pleased with the improvement shown by his players in the second encounter, praising their energy and overall performance.
“It was a wonderful game for us this morning. I think it was a better game for us compared to the game we played on Saturday. The boys came out in high spirit. We all saw the energy in the team,” Isa said.
The coach, however, identified lapses in concentration as an area the team must address before the qualifiers.
“All we need to do is to let the boys know that they need to concentrate more. We conceded some goals from a little bit of lack of concentration,” he added.
Isa believes the team is progressing tactically and that the two friendly matches against Senegal have provided valuable preparation ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
“Tactically, we are doing okay. We can get better before the Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifiers against Ghana.
“That’s why these two friendlies are very important ahead of Ghana. The Senegalese team really pushed us.”
Despite the back-to-back defeats, Isa expressed confidence in the Super Sand Eagles’ readiness to face Ghana, noting that the technical crew has already begun studying their opponents.
“Personally, I think the team is ready for Ghana. We have seen some of their clips and still going to do more,” he said.
