Ahudiyannem Queens edge Bayelsa to claim bronze at 2026 Governor Diri Women's Pre-Season Tournament

Ahudiyannem Queens FC secured third place at the 2026 Governor Diri Women’s Pre-Season Football Tournament after defeating hosts Bayelsa Queens FC 8–7 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Both teams battled fiercely during regulation time but were unable to find the breakthrough, leaving the third-place contest to be decided from the penalty spot.

Ahudiyannem Queens displayed remarkable composure under pressure, converting their kicks to edge past Bayelsa Queens in a tense shootout and conclude their tournament campaign on a winning note.

The victory represented a strong response from the Queens following their painful semi-final exit against Delta Queens, where they were also eliminated through a penalty shootout.

This time, however, Ahudiyannem Queens held their nerve to emerge victorious and secure a podium finish in the pre-season competition.

After winning the Abia State FA Cup, the team won another medal.

The team had demonstrated impressive form during the group stage, recording three victories to finish top of Group B with nine points. Their performances throughout the tournament highlighted their determination, resilience and competitive spirit.

The third-place finish provides Ahudiyannem Queens with valuable match experience and a confidence boost as they prepare for the upcoming football season.

Ahudiyannem Queens will now look to build on their performance in Yenagoa as they turn their attention to the challenges of the new season.
