Osimhen at Gala

Galatasaray president rules out Victor Osimhen exit amid transfer speculation

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has insisted the Turkish champions have no plans to sell Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen despite growing interest from top European clubs including Chelsea FC and Real Madrid CF.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently from SSC Napoli in the summer of 2025 after a successful loan spell that helped the Istanbul side secure a domestic double.

The Super Eagles striker has maintained his outstanding form this season, playing a leading role in Galatasaray’s successful defence of the Turkish Süper Lig title while also guiding the club to the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Across all competitions, the Nigerian forward contributed 22 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances, further strengthening his reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific attackers.

His performances have sparked transfer speculation linking him with several elite clubs, including FC Barcelona, but Özbek has dismissed any possibility of an exit this summer.

“We are not considering selling Victor Osimhen. Putting a price on a player we do not intend to sell is like dressing a footballer before he is even born,” Özbek said during a live appearance on HT Spor, as quoted by Sabah.

The Galatasaray president also praised the striker’s growing influence at the club, describing him as a player inspiring a new generation of supporters.

“Osimhen is making the second generation Galatasaray fans,” he added.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has been recalled to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal after missing Nigeria’s previous games against Iran and Jordan.

Galatasaray are now expected to build around the Nigerian star as they aim to strengthen their dominance domestically and compete deeper in Europe next season.
