Akor Adams rescues Super Eagles as Nigeria fightback to draw 3-3 with Russia

 

Nigeria’s Super Eagles staged a dramatic second-half comeback to secure a 3-3 draw against Russia in an entertaining international friendly.

Kelechi Iheanacho gave Nigeria the perfect start in the 10th minute, producing a sublime finish to put the Super Eagles 1-0 ahead.

Russia responded in the 30th minute when Sadulaev found the equaliser to make it 1-1.

The hosts then completed the turnaround just before half-time, with Matvey Kislyak scoring in the second minute of added time to give Russia a 2-1 lead at the break.

Russia extended their advantage nine minutes into the second half when Aleksey Miranchuk struck in the 54th minute to make it 3-1.

The Super Eagles refused to give up, however, and Osayande Peter Edokpolor pulled one back for Nigeria in the 78th minute, reducing the deficit to 3-2.

Nigeria completed the comeback deep into stoppage time when Akor Adams found the back of the net in the 94th minute to level the score at 3-3.

The late equaliser capped a thrilling fightback by the Super Eagles, who twice came from behind after conceding three successive goals to Russia.
