CAF reschedules WAFCON 2026 to July - August in Morocco

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially rescheduled the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), shifting the tournament to a new date later in the year.

Originally slated to take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco, the continental showpiece will now be held from 25 July to 16 August 2026.

CAF confirmed the adjustment followed consultations with FIFA and other key stakeholders, with the decision taken to ensure the smooth organization and overall success of Africa’s premier women’s football tournament.

The hosting rights for the 2026 edition were awarded to Morocco in October 2024, continuing the North African nation’s growing role as a major venue for continental football events.

Despite the shift in schedule due to unforeseen circumstances, CAF assured that preparations for the competition are already underway, with all parties confident that the tournament will deliver a successful and memorable celebration of women’s football on the continent.
