Igoche Mark pledges full support for Mak Town Flyer ahead of Basketball Africa League campaign
In a colourful reception held on Monday in Abuja, renowned basketball promoter and founder of the Mark D Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, pledged unwavering support to Mak Town Flyer (formerly Lagos Legends Basketball Club) as they gear up to represent Nigeria in the prestigious Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Speaking to the newly crowned national champions, Mark assured the team that their remarkable triumph marks the beginning of greater successes.
“Your victory now is just the beginning, more victories will come,” he said. “I have been with you on this journey. There is a bigger battle ahead — the BAL — and one thing I can assure you is that our support won’t end here. Everything needed to have an excellent outing in BAL will be provided.”
Mark praised the resilience and leadership of the club proprietor, Akerannan Manusseh Achii, a former Mark Mentos player, describing him as a pillar of motivation whose commitment propelled the team to national glory.
“From the onset he was determined, and with his ability to motivate the team, he brought them this far. The same way you entered this league and conquered, you will go to BAL and excel. I have faith that you will come out with a great result,” Mark added.
In his response, Achii reflected on the turbulent and emotional path that led to the club’s historic title.
“It was a tedious journey. I bought the team just two and a half weeks before the league started. Getting players, funding, logistics — everything was tough. But I’m grateful to God and the players,” he said.
The reception attracted prominent basketball stakeholders from across the country, including FIBA Zone 3 President Col. Sam Ahmed (rtd), NBBF North Central Representative Adamu Adeshi, Rear Admiral Hazma Ibrahim, NTA Sports 24 General Manager Kayode Adeniyi, Osita Nwanchukwu, Engr. Frank Jituboh, Scot Nnaji, and NDA Abu, among others.
With Igoche Mark’s solid commitment and the team’s growing momentum, Mak Town Flyer appear well-positioned to fly Nigeria’s flag high in the upcoming Basketball Africa League.
