Chelle bolster Olympic Eagles' Technical Crew with Ozebagbe, Ortega

Nigeria's senior men's national team head coach Eric Chelle has strengthened his technical team for the Nigeria Olympic Eagles with the appointment of Bright Osehai Ozebagbe and Deniran Ortega as his assistants.

Chelle, who also doubles as head coach of the Olympic Eagles, described the duo as among Nigeria’s most promising young coaches, citing their impressive profiles and technical qualities.

The Franco Malian tactician expressed his delight at the opportunity to work with both coaches as the team begins preparations for its Olympic qualification campaign.

Ozebagbe is currently the Technical Adviser of Nigeria Premier Football League side Ikorodu City, where he guided the Lagos-based club to a strong campaign last season, narrowly missing out on a continental ticket on the final day.

Ortega, meanwhile, is a UEFA licensed coach who received his training through the Scottish Football Association and currently serves as one of the assistant coaches of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.

Having already presented his plans and preparations for the Olympic qualification campaign to the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Chelle is expected to open the Olympic Eagles’ training camp in Abuja soon. Nigeria’s qualification fixtures are scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The Nigerian Olympic football teams, both male and female, operate under the supervision of the NSC, which has set its sights beyond qualification. The commission is targeting not only a return to the Olympic Games but also a podium finish for Nigeria at the Los Angeles Games.
