Dele-Bashiru marks injury return with goal for Watford
Nigeria star Tom Dele-Bashiru found the net for Watford in their 2-2 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The former Flying Eagles midfielder and Super Eagles hopeful has been sidelined since October after suffering a knee injury, with his last game dated 19 October 2024 in their 3-0 defeat by Luton.
The Nigerian star, the senior brother to Lazio and Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, scored his third goal in his 14th Championship match.
The hosts took an early lead thanks to Luke O'Nien 16th minute opener but looked set to suffer their first home defeat of the season after Dele-Bashiru's penalty levelled parity for the visitors two minutes before the break, and a stunning effort from Imran Louza in the first minute of the second half.
Despite Dele-Bashiru's goal and a strike from Imran Louza, Watford could not secure all three points as Dennis Cirkin equalised in the 89th minute to force a share of the spoils.
The draw extends Watford's winless streak to four matches, placing them 10th on the table.
