Ademola Lookman bags brace for Atletico Madrid in pre season encounter with Getafe

Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman made an instant statement in Atlético Madrid colours by scoring twice as Diego Simeone's side eased to a convincing 4-1 victory over Getafe in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly at the Cerro del Espino training ground in Majadahonda.

The Nigerian international opened his pre-season goal account in emphatic fashion, finding the net twice in the opening half to put Atlético firmly in control.

Lookman struck just five minutes into the contest, reacting quickest to convert after a shot had rebounded off the post.

He doubled Atlético's advantage shortly after the half hour mark, expertly finishing a pinpoint cross from Carlos Martín to make it 2-0.

Getafe briefly threatened a comeback when Álvaro Gutiérrez reduced the deficit to 2-1, but Atlético quickly restored their dominance.

Reserve team sensation Arnau Ortiz, who finished as the top scorer across both Primera RFEF groups last season with 23 goals, showcased his pace and dribbling ability before adding Atlético's third goal.

Obed Vargas completed the scoring in the closing stages, calmly converting a penalty in the 90th minute after winning the spot kick himself.

Lookman's clinical display will delight Atlético manager Diego Simeone as the Nigerian striker begins preparations for the new campaign in impressive fashion, underlining his attacking quality with a confidence boosting brace.
