Edo State Assembly Removes Natasha as Minority Leader
The Edo State House of Assembly has removed Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa as Minority Leader following a shift in the House’s power structure.
Irobosa, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was ousted alongside Majority Leader Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian and Chief Whip Hon. Yekini Idaiye in a major leadership shake-up.
The changes come after four PDP lawmakers defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), giving the opposition party a new majority in the Assembly.
Acting APC Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, had earlier written to the House, prompting the leadership reconstitution.
Speaker Hon. Blessing Agbebaku announced Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan (APC, Esan West) as the new Majority Leader, Hon. Addeh Emakhu Isibor (APC, Esan North-East I), Deputy Leader, and Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha (APC, Etsako West I) is the new Chief Whip.
Despite the changes, Agbebaku and his deputy, Hon. Maria Edeko, both PDP members retain their positions, though the Speaker admitted these roles are not guaranteed amid the ongoing political realignment.
The PDP is expected to submit a revised list of its new leadership in the House.
