Eid-el-Kabir: President Tinubu Assures Nigerians Of Economic Recovery, Improved Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is gradually overcoming its economic difficulties, declaring that “the walk through the dark tunnel is over” as Muslims celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festival.

In his personally signed Eid-el-Kabir message released on Tuesday, the President extended greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, while urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, unity, compassion and national togetherness.

Tinubu said the festival of sacrifice symbolises the virtues of faith, obedience and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, stressing that Nigerians should continue to support one another irrespective of ethnic, religious or social differences.

According to the President, the economic reforms introduced by his administration over the past three years, though difficult, were necessary to reposition the country for long-term prosperity and sustainable growth.

He maintained that the reforms had already begun yielding positive results, including a more stable economy and improved investor confidence capable of driving job creation and economic expansion.

“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal. The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations,” Tinubu stated.

The President also expressed optimism that ongoing reforms would continue to improve national security and create more opportunities for Nigerians across various sectors.

Speaking on insecurity, Tinubu acknowledged that terrorists and bandits were still attacking some communities despite intensified military operations and intelligence efforts.

He, however, assured citizens that the government remained committed to defeating criminal elements, insisting that affected communities had not been abandoned.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” the President said.

Tinubu further called on Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders, while encouraging Nigerians to support the less privileged and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood across the country.
