Eniola Bolaji’s Spanish Gold Excites BFN President, Sparks Olympic Ambitions

President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, has lauded Eniola Bolaji’s latest triumph, after the Paralympic bronze medallist clinched gold at the 2025 Spanish Para Badminton International II in Vitoria.

Bolaji, a multiple African champion, dominated the women’s singles SL3 final, defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyba 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) to maintain her perfect record of 11 wins in 11 international appearances.

Reacting to the feat, Orbih described Bolaji’s performance as a testament to her growing dominance on the global stage, hailing her second gold in two months as a sign of Nigeria’s rising profile in para badminton.

“Bolaji's victory is a testament to her dedication and her rising dominance on the world para badminton stage. This gold is her second in just two months, and it shows that our athletes are capable of competing at the highest level,” Orbih said.

The BFN president reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to developing para badminton and ensuring that more Nigerian players qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics.

“We are committed to investing in Bolaji and all our para badminton players. Their success reflects the hard work and resources we are putting into developing the sport. This victory is just one of many more to come,” he added.

Orbih also expressed appreciation to the National Sports Commission for its crucial support, describing it as a catalyst for the growth of badminton and Nigerian sports in general.
