NBBF President Mustapha Abdullahi targets infrastructure development, grassroots basketball
New Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) President, Mustapha Abdullahi, has outlined infrastructure development, grassroots basketball and improved athletes’ welfare as key priorities of his administration.
Abdullahi said his immediate focus would be to assess basketball infrastructure across the country, rehabilitate existing courts, construct new facilities and upgrade training centres to international standards.
He added that the federation would collaborate with government institutions, the private sector and other stakeholders to mobilise the resources and partnerships required to achieve its objectives.
Beyond infrastructure development, the NBBF president pledged to strengthen grassroots basketball, revive domestic competitions, improve athletes’ welfare and promote equal opportunities for male and female players.
“Our immediate priority is to assess basketball infrastructure across Nigeria and begin the rehabilitation of existing courts, construction of new facilities and upgrading of training centres to international standards. We will work with governments, the private sector and other stakeholders to mobilise the resources and partnerships needed to achieve this.
“Alongside infrastructure development, we will strengthen grassroots basketball, revive domestic competitions, improve athletes’ welfare and promote equal opportunities for male and female players. Our focus is to translate this vision into concrete action, create an enabling environment for emerging talents and build a sustainable basketball structure that gives Team Nigeria Basketball players the opportunity to excel at home and internationally,” Abdullahi said.
