FAME Foundation’s Arabinrin Aderonke Bags ISCA Role Model Award in Denmark
Nigeria’s Arabinrin Aderonke has added another feather to her cap after winning the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA) Role Model of the Year Award in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The biennial ISCA Awards recognise individuals and organisations using sport and physical activity to promote social inclusion, empowerment, and positive change globally. This year’s edition featured outstanding nominees from across the world, including Afghan-born boxing champion Farid Walizadeh and women’s rights advocate Zainab Hussaini.
Aderonke’s recognition comes as a result of her transformative work through the FAME Foundation, which focuses on empowering women and young girls through sports. Her programmes, which reach Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, slum communities, and rural areas, use sports to build confidence, foster inclusion, and promote leadership among girls.
The award, which includes a €3,000 cash prize, highlights Nigeria’s growing role in global efforts to use sports as a tool for development and gender equality.
