FCC Chairman Congratulates Customs CG on Tenure Extension, Commends Commitment to National Service

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the development as a deserved recognition of his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to national service.

In a statement issued on Monday, Omidiran said the decision to retain Adeniyi at the helm of the Nigeria Customs Service reflects the confidence reposed in his ability to sustain ongoing reforms, strengthen institutional efficiency and advance the agency’s strategic mandate.

According to her, the Customs boss has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and visionary leadership since assuming office, earning the trust of government, stakeholders and the wider public.

“The extension of your tenure is a testament to your outstanding leadership, dedication and the remarkable progress recorded under your stewardship of the Nigeria Customs Service,” Omidiran said.

“Your commitment to reforms, accountability and service delivery has continued to inspire confidence among Nigerians and stakeholders.”

The FCC Chairman further praised Adeniyi for championing transparency, boosting revenue generation, facilitating legitimate trade and enhancing border security, noting that these achievements have contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth and national development.

She also acknowledged the strategic role of the Nigeria Customs Service in implementing government policies, promoting efficient trade operations and supporting the country’s broader economic objectives through innovation and improved service delivery.

Omidiran expressed optimism that the tenure extension would provide an opportunity to consolidate existing gains and deepen reforms within the service.
