Falconets begin Abuja camp as Senegal World Cup Qualifiers beckons
Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have stepped up preparations for their crucial FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal, resuming camp in Abuja over the weekend.
The team reported to the West Point Hotel on Saturday, January 4, 2026, with 17 players already in camp and more invitees expected in the coming days as the squad takes full shape. From the first session, training has been intense and purposeful, with a clear focus on building cohesion, sharpening tactics, and improving physical conditioning.
Head coach Moses Aduku expressed satisfaction with the early stages of camp, confirming that preparations are progressing smoothly. The technical crew is using the period to closely assess players while laying down clear tactical ideas ahead of the two-legged tie.
According to Aduku, emphasis has been placed on tactical discipline, game intelligence, and team organisation as the Falconets fine-tune their approach for what promises to be a demanding encounter.
Nigeria will host the first leg of the third-round qualifier at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, on Saturday, February 7, before travelling to Dakar for the return leg on Saturday, February 14, with a place at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup at stake.
