Ghana Team Manager Adjahoe warns Super Sand Eagles ahead of Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifier return leg
Ghana beach soccer national team manager Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe has warned Nigeria's Super Sand Eagles that the Black Sharks will make full use of their home advantage in the second leg of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The two West African rivals played out a 3-3 draw in the first leg, leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the decisive return fixture in Keta, Ghana.
Adjahoe insisted that Ghana were not celebrating the result yet, stressing that the team would immediately turn its attention to preparations for the return leg.
“We are not celebrating yet. We are going to get ready for the second leg,” he said.
The Ghanaian team manager praised Nigeria's performance, acknowledging the quality of the Super Sand Eagles despite the country's absence from the beach soccer scene for several years.
“Nigeria is a very good team. We know that they have not been in the beach soccer fraternity for a couple of years. After coming back now, it is an excellent show. We respect them and have that Ghana-Nigeria rivalry,” Adjahoe stated.
However, he maintained that Ghana would not allow Nigeria to take advantage of the rivalry or the challenge of playing away from home, expressing confidence that the Black Sharks could secure qualification.
“It is a game, but they are not going to beat us because of the home advantage. We are going to make good use of the home advantage. We want to be at the AFCON and fight for the African championship,” he declared.
Adjahoe also highlighted the progress of beach soccer in Ghana, insisting that the team were determined to maintain their momentum and compete for continental honours.
“We are making a lot of progress in Ghana beach soccer and are not going to stop now,” he added.
Reflecting on Ghana's recent achievements, the manager pointed to the individual success of one of the team's players at the last Africa Cup of Nations, expressing hope that the player would continue to make an impact on the continent.
“At the last AFCON, our player won the highest goalscorer award. He has been consistent with that and wants to continue to make marks in Africa,” he said.
Adjahoe further disclosed that the Black Sharks had spent three weeks in camp preparing for the qualifiers, while expressing appreciation to the Ghana Football Association for its support.
“We have been in camp for three weeks. We thank the Ghana Football Association for their support and are really motivated for this task,” he concluded.
With the first leg ending in a draw, both teams will head into the return fixture on Sunday knowing that qualification remains within reach as Nigeria and Ghana battle for a place at the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
