NDLEA Seizes Cannabis-Infused Candies Destined for Children's Store in Lagos
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a major drug bust, intercepting a shipment of cannabis-infused candies intended for sale in a children’s store in Lagos.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that the sweets, marketed as innocent treats for kids, were discovered to contain a potent cannabis strain, raising alarming concerns about the safety of snacks on the market.
Babafemi described the troubling find: “Narco-trends: One of the latest seizures by #ndlea_nigeria officers is candies confirmed to contain a strong strain of cannabis. The importer shipped them in for sale in his kiddies’ shop in Lagos, where he sells children’s items, making it seem as though school kids were the target.”
He urged parents to be vigilant about the snacks their children consume, emphasising the importance of awareness. “Parents, let’s stay alert to the sweets and snacks our kids take to school or bring home.”
