President Tinubu reshuffles cabinet, replaces finance and housing ministers to boost economic agenda

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting key positions in Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve economic delivery.

According to a memo signed by George Akume, two ministers—Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa—are to step down from their roles.

Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, will be succeeded by Taiwo Oyedele, previously Minister of State in the same ministry.

In the housing sector, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as the new Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, replacing Dangiwa, who has been directed to hand over to the Minister of State.

The directive mandates all transitions to be completed by April 23, 2026.

Akume explained that the reshuffle is aimed at enhancing coordination within the cabinet and accelerating the delivery of the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He emphasized that the President acted within constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Tinubu also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and signaled that further cabinet adjustments may follow as part of ongoing efforts to reinvigorate governance.
