NDLEA smashes major Oyo forest Meth Lab worth 480 billion Naira

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled one of the largest clandestine methamphetamine production facilities ever discovered in Nigeria, arresting a Mexican national and four Nigerian suspects during a major operation in Oyo State.

The illicit drug laboratory, hidden deep inside a forest in the state, was uncovered by the agency’s Special Operations Unit after months of intensive intelligence gathering and surveillance.

According to NDLEA, the operation exposed a sophisticated methamphetamine manufacturing site believed to be operated by a transnational drug cartel. Investigators revealed that foreign technical experts were recruited to oversee and manage the drug production process.

The agency said the raid resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and related materials valued at approximately ₦480 billion, dealing a significant blow to the criminal network behind the operation.

Officials described the laboratory as one of the biggest meth production sites ever uncovered in the country, underscoring the growing threat posed by international drug trafficking syndicates operating within Nigeria.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks and bringing all individuals connected to the illegal operation to justice.
