Nigeria set to deliver memorable 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy
With 27 days to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), Nigeria is gearing up to deliver a memorable experience as it prepares to host the prestigious women’s team golf championship for the third time.
The championship is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, bringing together some of Africa’s finest women golfers for a week of competitive action, cultural exchange and continental camaraderie.
For Nigeria, hosting the AACT represents more than simply providing a venue for golf. It offers an opportunity to showcase the country’s renowned hospitality, rich cultural heritage, vibrant people and growing capacity to stage major international sporting events.
Beyond the golf course, visiting teams will have the opportunity to experience Nigeria’s diverse cuisine, traditions and culture. The championship is also expected to foster friendships, strengthen relationships among participating African nations and celebrate the continued growth of women’s golf across the continent.
Nigeria’s previous experiences of hosting the AACT have provided a strong foundation for the 2026 edition. However, organisers are determined to make this year’s championship distinctive by creating a welcoming and memorable environment for players, officials and other visitors arriving in Abuja.
A major part of the preparations is the ongoing rehabilitation of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, which is undergoing extensive improvements ahead of the tournament.
Chairperson of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, CFR, has assured that the facility will be ready to host the championship.
The President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, Dr. Lami Ahmed, is also coordinating efforts towards a successful tournament in collaboration with the golf club and other stakeholders.
As the countdown continues, Nigeria is looking forward to welcoming teams from across Africa—not only to compete on the greens but also to experience the country’s hospitality, culture and sporting spirit.
The 2026 AACT presents another opportunity for Nigeria to reinforce its reputation as a host of international sporting events while contributing to the continued development and promotion of women’s golf across Africa.
