More than 30 golfers from across the North East participated in the 2026 Golf Kitty Tournament organised by the Bauchi Golf and Country Club in Bauchi State.

The Captain of the Bauchi Golf Club, Alhaji Abubakar Gazali, disclosed this while addressing participants at the conclusion of the one-day tournament.

Gazali said the tournament was organised as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

He explained that golfers from Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe states took part in the competition, assuring that the club would continue to organise similar tournaments to promote the development of golfers at all levels in Bauchi and across the country.

The club captain also expressed appreciation to members of the Bauchi Golf Club board and other donors for their continued support for the sport. He, however, appealed to the Bauchi State Government to rehabilitate and rebrand the state-owned Gubi Golf Course, citing its current dilapidated condition.

Some of the participating golfers, including Khalid Barau Ningi of Bauchi, General Ali Ahmadu Nguru of Yobe and Moses Agwe of Gombe, expressed delight at taking part in the Nigeria 66th Independence Anniversary Golf Kitty Tournament.

They pledged to maintain regular training in preparation for future competitions.
