Nigeria opened their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar.

 Madagascar struck first in the 16th minute when Ehsan Kari rose to head the ball home and give his side a 1-0 lead.

Super Eagles players appeared to believe the goal was offside, but the referee allowed it to stand.

 The Super Eagles responded before halftime as George Ilenikhena leveled the score following a well-timed assist from Alex Iwobi. Ilenikhena kept his composure and placed his finish beyond the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

 Nigeria completed the comeback in the 65th minute through Moses Usor, who produced a brilliant solo effort to put the Super Eagles ahead.

 Usor’s outstanding finish proved decisive as Nigeria held on for a 2-1 victory, earning three points from their opening 2027 AFCON qualifying fixture.
