The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Secretariat has officially confirmed the relegation of Castmog Ladies from the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership after the club failed to meet mandatory registration and licensing requirements for the new season.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 24, 2025, by Media Director Samuel Ahmadu, the league noted that Castmog Ladies were among three clubs previously warned to comply with the outlined procedures. Despite multiple reminders, the Abeokuta-based side missed the final deadline.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Modupe Shabi described the decision as necessary to uphold the league’s standards.

“We have a responsibility to protect the integrity of the league, and compliance with registration and licensing requirements is a non-negotiable part of that process,” she said.

Shabi added that competition logistics are being updated to reflect the new structure and reiterated that strict adherence to registration rules is vital for sustaining a credible women’s football ecosystem in Nigeria.

She confirmed that the revised season schedule and operational updates will be released in the coming days.

“Our focus is to ensure the season proceeds smoothly on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Updated fixtures will be shared with all clubs, and we remain committed to transparency and professionalism at every stage,” she added.

According to the NWFL Secretariat, all other affected clubs fulfilled their obligations within the set timeframe, leaving Castmog Ladies as the only side unable to meet the compulsory standards.

With the Ogun State-based club now officially relegated, the Premiership season will proceed with 19 teams. As a result, every club, starting with Rivers Angels, who were initially scheduled to face Castmog Ladies, will now observe a bye on those matchdays.
