Super Eagles soar to 2026 Unity Cup glory over Jamaica

Nigeria successfully defended their Unity Cup title with an impressive 3-0 victory over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz at The Valley in London on Saturday, delivering a commanding performance to retain the prestigious Afro-Caribbean Football Tournament crown.

USA based midfielder Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi was the star of the show, scoring twice to cap a remarkable tournament, while stand-in captain Terem Moffi added his name to the scoresheet. Abdullahi opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute, reacting quickest after Jamaican goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke punched away a long throw from Kenneth Igboke.

The Super Eagles dominated proceedings for much of the contest, displaying cohesion, flair and discipline under coach Eric Chelle, who made just one change to the side that defeated Zimbabwe in the semi finals.

Nigeria continued to threaten throughout the game, with Rafiu Durosinmi and Femi Azeez playing key roles in several attacking moves.

Moffi doubled Nigeria’s advantage shortly after the restart, heading home a precise cross from Azeez. Deep into stoppage time, substitute Philip Otele set up Abdullahi for his second goal of the evening, as the midfielder calmly finished past Boyce-Clarke to complete a comprehensive 3-0 triumph.

The Super Eagles will now shift attention to an international friendly against Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3.
