Tobi Amusan smashes Rabat record again, storms to first Diamond League win of 2026
Nigeria’s sprint hurdles queen, Tobi Amusan, continued her remarkable return to top form with a dominant victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco on Sunday.
The world record holder powered to victory in a season’s best-equalling time of 12.28 seconds, setting a new meeting record and securing her first Diamond League triumph of the 2026 campaign.
Amusan finished comfortably ahead of Bahamian hurdler Devynne Charlton, who clocked 12.40 seconds, while Dutch athlete Nadine Visser placed third in 12.47 seconds.
The 29 year old’s winning time erased the previous Rabat meeting record of 12.45 seconds, which she had established at the same event last year.
The performance came just a week after she posted the same 12.28-second mark at the Xiamen Diamond League in China, highlighting her growing consistency and resurgence among the world’s elite hurdlers.
Fresh from claiming a third consecutive African title, Amusan appears to be peaking at the right moment ahead of the season’s major championships.
Her commanding display in Rabat reinforces her status as one of the favourites on the global stage and sends a strong message to rivals as she targets more international success in 2026.
