Taiwo Awoniyi builds pathway for future football champions in Kwara State
Nottingham Forest and Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is extending his impact beyond the football pitch by investing in the future of young talents through the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation’s partnership with the Kwara Kiddies League.
Driven by a vision of giving hope to aspiring footballers, Awoniyi is creating opportunities for the next generation to follow in his footsteps, transforming grassroots football development in Kwara State through a comprehensive support programme.
Under a structured four year sponsorship arrangement, the foundation has introduced professional standards to the youth league, ensuring that young players are not only discovered but also nurtured in a safe and competitive environment.
One of the most significant achievements of the partnership is the integration of the Kwara Kiddies League into Wyscout, the world’s leading football scouting platform. The move provides young players with unprecedented global exposure, allowing international scouts to monitor talents directly from grassroots competitions.
Beyond visibility, the foundation has prioritised player welfare by providing complete kits for all 14 participating teams and supporting regular meal programmes for the young athletes.
Recognising the importance of player safety, the initiative also includes a dedicated matchday ambulance service and first-aid facilities, ensuring immediate medical attention whenever required.
Speaking on the importance of grassroots development, Awoniyi emphasised that football’s foundation must be strengthened to guarantee long-term success.
“Without the ground, which is the foundation, there can never be a house. We should ensure that we emphasize doing the right thing with the grassroots,” he stated.
By professionalising youth football and creating clear pathways to higher levels of the game, Awoniyi is doing more than supporting young players he is building a sustainable system designed to produce future stars and ensuring that the next Taiwo Awoniyi does not have to rely on luck to be discovered.
