Nigeria defender Glory Ogbonna has returned to Turkish women’s football side Beşiktaş for a second spell ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international rejoins the Istanbul-based club after spending the 2025/26 campaign with Israeli side Kiryat Gat, marking another chapter in her growing European football career.  

Ogbonna is no stranger to Beşiktaş, having previously represented the Turkish club before moving on to continue her career elsewhere in Europe.

Her return comes as Beşiktaş strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with the Nigerian defender expected to bring valuable experience and defensive solidity to the team.

Ogbonna has established herself as part of the Super Falcons setup, earning international recognition for her defensive qualities and versatility.

Her year in Israel with Kiryat Gat provided further experience of European women’s football, and the move back to Turkey gives her an opportunity to compete in a familiar environment while seeking regular playing time.

The defender’s return to Beşiktaş also adds another Nigerian international to the growing contingent of Super Falcons players plying their trade outside the country.

For Ogbonna, the second spell represents an opportunity to build on her previous experience with the club and make a stronger impact as Beşiktaş prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.

The transfer also comes at an important stage of her international career, with regular club football crucial to maintaining her place in the Super Falcons squad.
