World Archery Confirms Mohammed Baba Abdullahi’s Appointment to Commonwealth Games Committee
World Archery has officially confirmed the appointment of Nigerian sports administrator, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, as a member of its Commonwealth Games Committee with responsibility for Africa.
The confirmation was contained in an official letter dated May 15, 2026, and signed by World Archery Secretary General, Raul Calin, addressed to the Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Committee, Robert Fiddyment.
According to the letter, the appointments were approved by the World Archery Executive Board (WAEB) as part of efforts to strengthen the activities and global representation of the committee ahead of future Commonwealth Games engagements.
Mohammed Baba Abdullahi was named alongside Karl Balisch, Trina Roberts, Ainsley Ward, and Virendra Sachdeva as members of the committee.
Abdullahi’s inclusion is seen as a major boost for the development and representation of archery across Africa, particularly within the Commonwealth sporting structure. His role is expected to focus on coordinating and advancing the interests of African member nations in World Archery’s Commonwealth-related activities.
The letter further noted that Juan Carlos Holgado will continue to serve as the liaison staff for the committee.
World Archery expressed confidence that the newly appointed members would contribute meaningfully to the growth and activities of the committee.
