‘Carry Everyone Along,’ Tinubu Tells Oyebanji After Historic Ekiti Re-election
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election, urging him to govern with humility and inclusiveness by carrying all segments of the state along during his second term.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Oyebanji’s victory in Saturday’s governorship election as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance and encouraged him to use the renewed mandate to foster unity and accelerate development.
“Governor Oyebanji should remain magnanimous in victory and carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years,” Tinubu said.
The President also appealed to candidates who contested the election to put partisan differences aside and support the governor in advancing the state’s development agenda.
According to the statement, Tinubu said it was “now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance.”
Commendation for Peaceful Election
Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process and commended voters for expressing their choice through the ballot box.
He also lauded security agencies for maintaining law and order during the election, contributing to a smooth and orderly exercise across the state.
The President further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts aimed at delivering transparent and credible elections as the country prepares for future polls.
“He charges the Independent National Electoral Commission to continue to invest in conducting a peaceful, free, fair and credible election as we approach the Osun governorship election in August and the general election next year,” the statement noted.
Vote of Confidence in Oyebanji’s Leadership
Reflecting on the governor’s first term, Tinubu highlighted progress in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development under the BAO Agenda, describing the re-election as a clear affirmation of continuity and people-focused governance.
The President also observed that the victory marked a historic milestone, with Oyebanji becoming the first incumbent governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure consecutive re-election.
Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and advance the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He concluded by praying for wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he embarks on another four-year term in office.
