Ogun APC candidate targets 2 million votes for Tinubu in 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Adeola, says the state is targeting at least two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the next election.
Adeola made the disclosure on Saturday at the official inauguration of the City Boy Movement in Ogun State, where he said the proposed vote target would demonstrate residents’ appreciation for the Tinubu administration’s projects and interventions across the state.
According to him, Ogun has about 3.01 million registered voters, placing it among the states with the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria.
He said the state must be prepared to deliver no fewer than two million votes for Tinubu in recognition of what his administration has done in Ogun.
“Our votes in this state must not be less than two million votes because all that the President is doing for us must not go in vain, and that is why we must be ready,” Adeola said.
The APC candidate cited several federal projects as evidence of the administration’s interventions in the state. They include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, the Sokoto-Badagry Road and the ongoing rehabilitation of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
Adeola also linked the federal government’s infrastructure investments to the state’s economic prospects, arguing that the projects could significantly boost Ogun’s internally generated revenue (IGR).
“With how much is given, much is expected. The President has done a lot for us in Ogun State,” he said, adding that the state’s IGR could rise to N1 trillion within a year.
He further said Ogun had benefited from federal efforts to expand infrastructure and develop its natural resources, stressing that the state must maximise the opportunities created by the investments.
