"Super Eagles call-up fulfills childhood dream" - Akinsanmiro
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has described his first-ever invitation to the Super Eagles as a dream come true, revealing that representing Nigeria at senior level has been one of his ambitions since his days with the U-15 national team.
The youngster said his family shared in the excitement after receiving the call up, marking a significant milestone in his emerging football career.
“It was a dream come true, I have been wanting to be in the national team from the U15's. My family also were so happy about the call up.”
Akinsanmiro also offered an interesting insight into his football upbringing, admitting that he did not spend much time watching the game while growing up.
However, he identified former and current Nigerian midfield icons Mikel Obi, Austin Okocha and Wilfred Ndidi as players who inspired him.
“To be honest, I don't watch football that much from my young age. Growing up, I watched Mikel Obi, Okocha, and Ndidi. These people inspire me,”
Having shared the AFCON environment with Ndidi, Akinsanmiro said the Leicester City midfielder's mentality, discipline and leadership qualities have particularly influenced him.
“Being at the AFCON with Ndidi, I can say his mentality,aggressiveness, and discipline, a great leader. He is so humble. This is part of him that inspires me.”
