APC begins upload of National Assembly candidates to INEC portal after NWC approval

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has started uploading the names of its Senate and House of Representatives candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, marking a key step in preparations for the forthcoming elections.

The exercise follows the approval of the party's final list by its National Working Committee (NWC), which concluded its review of reports submitted by the Primary Appeal Committees.

Party sources disclosed that a number of candidates received INEC's Form EC9 on Monday night, confirming their official nomination and clearance for the elections.

Among those confirmed for Senate seats are Sunday Karimi (Kogi West), Paul Ikonne (Abia South), Emmanuel Udende (Benue North-East), Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central), Titus Tartenger (Benue North-West), and Olajide Ipinsagba (Ondo North).

For the House of Representatives, the confirmed candidates include Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), Festus Adefiranye (Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo), John Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele), Abdulazeez Kaka (Kaduna North), Samuel Okezie (Ukwa East/Ukwa West), and Abubakar Abdullahi (Suleja/Tafa/Mokwa), among others.

In a letter dated June 29, signed by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the party stated that the submitted list represents its final decision after resolving all appeals arising from the primary elections.

The APC added that the submission complies with the provisions of the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines, while urging the electoral commission to take the necessary administrative steps.

In Oyo State, the party also presented nomination documents to its candidates in Abuja. Those who received the forms include senatorial candidates Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), Remi Oseni (Oyo South), and Hannah Ogunesan (Oyo North), as well as several House of Representatives candidates from across the state.

Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Yilwatda praised the conduct of the Oyo primaries, describing the process as free, fair, and credible. He congratulated the candidates and expressed confidence in their chances at the polls.

Despite the progress, tensions remain in Ondo State, where some dissatisfied aspirants have continued to protest the outcome of the primaries, alleging irregularities and calling on the party leadership to address their grievances.
