Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna made an impressive entrance into the French Pro B League with Amiens, underlining his status as one of Africa’s leading table tennis stars.

 Making his debut on Tuesday, September 22, Aruna showed his trademark fighting spirit as he battled to a 3–2 victory over Lille in a tense opening encounter. The Nigerian then followed it up with a commanding 3–1 win over Iranian Hossein Hodaei, providing a timely boost for Amiens after their slow start.

 Aruna’s performances highlighted both his quality and resilience, while also justifying Amiens’ decision to bring in the experienced Nigerian as they seek to challenge for promotion back to the top division.

 Elsewhere, Algeria’s Mehdi Bouloussa played a pivotal role in Courbevoie STT’s 3–2 victory over Compiégnois TT 1. His sharp play and leadership proved decisive as Courbevoie secured an important opening win.

 Africa’s influence was also evident in Nantes, where Nigerian legend Segun Toriola combined his player and coaching roles to guide Nantes to a 3–1 victory over Frejus AMSL. Toriola’s experience complemented the youthful talent of Egyptian prodigy Youssef Abdelaziz and the expertise of Greek veteran Panagiotis Gionis.

 At Le Havre ATT, Nigerians Olajide Omotayo and Taiwo Mati did not feature in their team’s match, but Le Havre still enjoyed a winning start, defeating Boulogne Billancourt AC 3–1.

 Algerian Stephane Ouaiche also enjoyed a memorable opening night as Caen TTC swept Miramas AS 3–0 to move to the top of the table. His compatriot Maheidine Bella, meanwhile, earned Proville ASL’s only point in a 1–3 defeat to Pontoise-Cergy AS.

 It was a difficult evening for Benin Republic’s Salifou Abdel-Kader, who was not included in Compiégnois TT’s lineup as his side suffered a 0–3 defeat to Bouloussa’s Courbevoie STT.

 However, much of the attention remains on Aruna and his promising start with Amiens. His arrival has brought renewed optimism to a club determined to return to the top division.

 With Caen currently leading the table and Amiens occupying third place, the next major test comes on Tuesday, September 29, when Aruna and Amiens travel to face Toriola’s Nantes.

 The meeting promises to be a fascinating African showdown, with Aruna aiming to maintain his strong start and help Amiens close the gap at the top of the French Pro B League.
