Asisat Oshoala fires Al Hilal into Saudi Women's Cup final with sensational hattrick
Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala once again proved why she remains one of Africa’s finest footballers, producing a breathtaking hat-trick performance as Al Hilal Women dismantled Al Qadsiah Women 5–1 on Thursday to book their place in the Saudi Women’s Cup final.
The emphatic victory sealed a commanding 7–2 aggregate triumph for Al Hilal, with Oshoala at the heart of yet another dominant attacking display.
The six-time African Player of the Year was simply unstoppable across the encounter, scoring twice before halftime, adding a third in the second half, and even winning a late penalty to cap off an outstanding individual performance.
Oshoala’s latest heroics take her tally to 23 goals and six assists in all competitions this season, underlining a remarkable debut campaign in Saudi Arabia. The Nigerian striker has now scored in four straight matches and has registered at least one goal contribution in each of her last six games.
Heading into the second leg with a slim 2–1 advantage, Al Hilal wasted little time asserting control away from home, with Oshoala leading the charge.
The Nigerian forward broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a stunning right-footed effort from outside the area after being teed up by former Barcelona midfielder Kheira Hamraoui.
Barely two minutes later, Portuguese winger Jéssica Silva doubled Al Hilal’s advantage, calmly finishing off a swift counter-attack after racing onto a perfectly weighted pass from Al Bandari Mobarak.
Al Qadsiah briefly threatened a comeback when Cameroon international Ajara Nchout reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute, but Oshoala responded almost immediately. The forward finished another rapid attacking move just before halftime to restore Al Hilal’s two-goal cushion at 3–1.
She completed her hat-trick in the 73rd minute, showing composure inside the box as she slotted home after another assist from Al Bandari Mobarak.
Oshoala was not done yet.
In the closing stages, she won a penalty after being brought down inside the box, before Ghizlane Chebbak converted from the spot in stoppage time to complete the rout and send Al Hilal into the final in style.
Al Hilal will now await the winner between Al Ula Women and Al Nassr Women as they continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
