Nigeria defender Bruno Onyemaechi finally opened his goalscoring account for Olympiakos as the Greek champions cruised to a 4-0 victory over AEL Larissa in the Greek Cup.

The Nigeria international put an end to a 42-game wait for his first goal for the club, finding the net in the second half to help Olympiakos secure a comfortable victory.

Onyemaechi made it 3-0 in the 54th minute, calmly converting a precise pass from Armando González to cap an impressive individual performance.

Armando González and Gustavo Sá had earlier given the visitors a two-goal advantage before the Nigerian left-back added a third.

Joel Roca completed the rout later in the match as Olympiakos secured their first victory of the Greek Cup group stage.

The goal was Onyemaechi’s first since joining Olympiakos from Portuguese side Boavista during the winter transfer window of 2025.

The 27-year-old had gone 42 appearances without finding the net for the Greek giants, despite establishing himself as an important option at left-back.

Onyemaechi was withdrawn with 27 minutes remaining, with Armenian defender Nair Tiknizyan taking his place.

His latest outing also continued his involvement in Olympiakos’ attacking play. His only previous goal involvement for the club came in March 2025 when he contributed against AEK Athens.

The performance comes at an important time for the Nigerian, who is reportedly in contention for a place in the Super Eagles squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

The goal should provide Onyemaechi with additional confidence as he continues to establish himself in Greek football and compete for a regular place in the Nigeria national team.

For Olympiakos, the emphatic victory provided a strong start to their Greek Cup campaign, while Onyemaechi’s breakthrough goal added another positive note to an otherwise routine win.
