CAF to review Egypt's proposal for more Champions League slots, says Motsepe
Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that Egypt's proposal to increase the number of clubs participating in the CAF Champions League will undergo a thorough review before any decision is made.
Speaking on the matter, Motsepe stressed that CAF's priority is to make decisions that benefit African football as a whole.
"Any proposal submitted to us, including Egypt's request to increase the number of teams participating in the Champions League, must be carefully studied. We will make the decision that best serves African football," Motsepe said.
He added that the proposal will first be examined by CAF's Secretary General before being presented to the Executive Committee for consideration.
"This request will be presented to the Secretary General and the Executive Committee for review. A decision will be taken based on what is in the best interests of African football."
The remarks indicate that while Egypt's request is under consideration, CAF has not yet reached a final decision, with the governing body emphasizing a careful evaluation process focused on the overall development of the game across the continent.
