FAME Foundation Partners with Manchester City and Midea to Empower Youth in Nigeria

FAME Foundation has teamed up with Manchester City Football Club and global appliance giant Midea to roll out a groundbreaking community initiative in Lagos, Nigeria.

 The project, part of FAME’s Play It Dream It program, aims to harness the power of football to educate, inspire, and empower young people. It also marks Nigeria’s first entry into a wider African campaign already active in Kenya, Angola, South Africa, and Morocco. Through football activities and the creation of community hubs, the initiative will focus on health promotion, leadership development, and building confidence among children, while providing safe and inclusive spaces for play and learning.

 Tom Pitchon, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at City Football Group, emphasised the program’s global impact: “Through this partnership, we are using football and Midea products to uplift the lives of young people around the world. The community football projects we are supporting will provide young people in cities across the globe with a home away from home, while promoting health, life skills, confidence, new friendships, and leadership opportunities.” Echoing this, Bright Yao, Regional Sales Director at Midea Africa, highlighted the brand’s commitment to social responsibility, “At Midea, we value social responsibility, and we believe in making technology accessible with purpose and this initiative does exactly that. By bringing our products to grassroots communities and partnering with local organisations, we’re not just providing appliances we are helping to create safe, inspiring spaces where young people can thrive. These are the kinds of real-life impacts that matter to us and to the future of the communities that we serve.”

 FAME Foundation, a Nigerian non-profit focused on empowering women, girls, and youth through sports, education, and advocacy, has already reached thousands nationwide with its Play It Dream It initiative.
