NNL threatens to block players registration over unsettled arbitration cases

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has warned clubs participating in the league to comply with the decisions of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Players’ Status and Arbitration Committee (PSAC), cautioning that failure to do so could prevent them from registering players for the 2026/2027 season.

The directive comes as clubs intensify preparations for the new campaign, with the NNL making it clear that decisions communicated to affected clubs must be honoured before their registration processes can be completed.

NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, emphasised that compliance with the committee’s rulings was compulsory for all clubs concerned.

“All cases of the Players’ Arbitration Committee, whose decisions have been taken and communicated to clubs, must be complied with, or the NNL will not register players of the affected clubs,” Alanana stated.

He further explained that clubs that had reached payment or settlement agreements with affected players and coaches through the NFF must provide evidence that the agreements had been fulfilled.

Such evidence must be communicated to the relevant parties, while the necessary clearance must also be obtained from the federation to avoid complications during registration.

Meanwhile, the 2026/2027 NNL season is scheduled to begin on October 31 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, with hosts Heartland FC, popularly known as The Naze Millionaires, taking on Crown FC of Ogbomoso, nicknamed The Ajilete Warriors, in the Conference A opening fixture.

The encounter will usher in a new campaign as participating clubs battle for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
