FMWI, IPCR Advocate Women as Agents of Change
The Fabulous Minds Women Initiatives (FMWI), in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), has called for strategic gender partnerships to accelerate change and social development.
At a roundtable dialogue themed “Women as Agents of Change”, held in Abuja on March 8, 2025, the organizations marked International Women’s Day by highlighting the role of women in shaping a just and equitable society.
The event, hosted by FMWI President, Mrs. Betty Agunobi, featured panelists from diverse fields, including educational consultant Mrs. Omosehin Romoke, family therapist Mrs. Theodora Obayojie, IT expert Mr. Ugochukwu Okereke, and Consultant General Surgeon Dr. Kenneth Onyejekwe.
Discussions centered on gender inclusivity, strategic partnerships, and policy reforms to empower women.
Delivering the keynote address, IPCR Director General Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, represented by Mrs. Adesola Olowokere, emphasized the ongoing struggles of Nigerian women and the need to amplify their voices against gender disparities.
Dr. Onyejekwe underscored the importance of women asserting their rights, particularly in healthcare decisions, while advocating for inclusive government policies.
Mrs. Obayojie called for deliberate efforts to involve men in gender advocacy, suggesting strategies to dismantle cultural biases.
Mr. Okereke advised women to frame their advocacy within African contexts to ensure greater acceptance, while Mrs. Omosehin stressed the role of fathers in shaping confident and resilient daughters.
The event reinforced the necessity of gender collaboration in fostering sustainable social change.
