Four teams seal NWFL Championship promotion tickets
The curtain came down on the 2025 NWFL Nationwide in Abuja with an exciting final matchday that delivered goals, drama, and new beginnings. By the end of the action, four teams, DreamStar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders, and Rosaria Victrix, had sealed their places in the NWFL Championship, marking a proud moment in their club histories.
Rangers Women crowned their impressive debut season with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Plateau Queens, thanks to an early strike from Onwe Oluebube in the fifth minute. The result sealed a remarkable rise for the newcomers, who will be competing in the Championship at the first time of asking.
DreamStar Ladies FC, meanwhile, completed an unbeaten campaign in Abuja to secure an immediate return to the second division. The Lagos-based side displayed the quality and composure that once made them a formidable top-flight team.
Solo Wonders FC delivered the most dominant performance of the day, dismantling Sporting Angels 8–0 to clinch their maiden promotion. Jessica Obinna netted a rapid hat-trick (11’, 16’, 20’), Chinenye Nzeribe added four goals (54’, 73’, 76’, 85’), and Amarachi Ikechukwu also found the net to cap off a perfect display.
Rosaria Victrix FC completed the quartet of promoted sides after holding Alexander Queens to a goalless draw, a result sufficient to guarantee their first-ever step up to the Championship. Their disciplined and consistent performances throughout the tournament proved decisive.
Elsewhere, C2E Sports Academy ended their campaign on a positive note, defeating Osklean FC 2–0. Perpetual Abaronye (24’) and Nina Ude (37’) were on target as the academy side claimed their first win of the competition.
With the promotion secured, DreamStar Ladies, Rangers Women, Solo Wonders, and Rosaria Victrix will now set their sights on the greater challenges that await in the NWFL Championship.
