Future Eagles return to Abuja after 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup Festival in Azerbaijan

Nigeria’s U-15 national team, the Future Eagles, have safely returned to Abuja following their participation in the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The young Nigerian footballers arrived in the country aboard Turkish Airlines after completing their campaign at the international youth competition, which provided them with valuable exposure and an opportunity to compete against teams from different footballing backgrounds.

The Future Eagles recorded two victories, six draws and two defeats in 10 matches, finishing 76th overall in the competition.

During the group stage, Nigeria scored 11 goals in five matches but managed just one victory, alongside four draws. Despite showing attacking promise, the team struggled to convert some of their encouraging performances into victories.

One of the standout moments of their campaign was an emphatic 7-0 victory over New Caledonia in the Tier C Round of 32, highlighting the team's attacking potential.

Although their overall position reflected a challenging campaign, the tournament offered the Nigerian youngsters an important opportunity to gain international experience, improve their understanding of the game and measure themselves against opposition from different parts of the world.

Their return to Abuja marks the end of Nigeria's participation in the Baku football festival, with the experience expected to provide valuable lessons as the players continue their development and prepare for future international assignments.
