Kanu Nwankwo motivates Abia Angels players ahead of NWFL Premiership season
Enyimba Chairman and FIFA Ambassador, Kanu Nwankwo, has encouraged players of Abia Angels FC to embrace discipline, self-belief and determination as they prepare for the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The former Super Eagles captain delivered the motivational message to the players on Wednesday ahead of their training session, urging them to remain focused and committed to achieving their ambitions in football.
Kanu was also present at the final training session of Enyimba's men's team ahead of their NPFL Matchday 12 encounter against Ranchers Bees in Minna when he took time to interact with the Abia Angels players.
Addressing the girls, the former Arsenal and Ajax striker encouraged them to believe in their abilities, maintain discipline and work hard, stressing that these qualities would help them achieve their dreams and progress in their football careers.
The players fondly recalled his famous words, "Papilo, I know say you go make us proud," and pledged to make Abia Angels proud in the forthcoming campaign.
Head coach Judith Benson expressed appreciation to Kanu for taking time to inspire the team, describing his words of encouragement as a valuable boost to the players ahead of the new season.
The Enyimba chairman also supported the team with a financial token for breakfast, while urging the players to remain physically fit, strong and prepared for the challenges ahead.
Abia Angels qualified for the NWFL Premiership Super Six last season and will be targeting an improved campaign under the guidance of new head coach Benson.
Kanu, widely celebrated for his achievements with the Super Eagles and leading European clubs, has consistently used his platform to encourage young footballers, often drawing from his personal experiences during his formative years.
The former African Footballer of the Year has also made several generous contributions towards supporting emerging talents, emphasising the importance of discipline, hard work and determination in building successful football careers.
