Kelvin Amayo Rejoins Rivers Hoopers for 2025 Basketball Africa League
Rivers Hoopers have secured a major boost ahead of the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL), re-signing star guard Kelvin Amayo for the new season.
Amayo was instrumental in the Hoopers’ third-place finish at the 2024 BAL, averaging 16 points, 6.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. His standout performances earned him spots on the All-BAL Second Team and BAL All-Defensive Second Team.
The Canadian-born Nigerian further cemented his impact in November, leading the Hoopers to the Nigeria Premier Basketball League title and securing their BAL qualification. He was also named league MVP.
A two-time BAL bronze medalist, Amayo becomes Rivers Hoopers' first signing ahead of the 2025 campaign. The team will begin their BAL season on April 5 against Stade Malien at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.
