NFF responds to Monimichelle CEO's remarks on FIFA-Funded pitch project in Ogborodo
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued a response to recent comments made by Ebi Egbe, CEO of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited, regarding the stalled FIFA-funded pitch project in Ogborodo, Delta State.
Egbe alleged via social media that previous NFF leadership had not acted sincerely in handling the project, claiming equipment worth over ₦250 million is idle at the site.
In a statement, NFF General Secretary Dr Sanusi Mohammed rejected the allegations, describing them as “inflammatory statements capable of disrupting the peace of the football community,” and reiterated the Federation’s commitment to executing the project strictly in line with FIFA directives.
“Please, Sanusi did not tell you so. I told Mr. Amaju and not you that the president and myself had a meeting with FIFA where we made a case for the site. FIFA requested that the contractor return to the site and meet up to the level of the money given first, which was not done,” Dr. Sanusi clarified.
He further urged all parties to ensure any public discussion is grounded in accurate and verifiable information, adding:
“I wouldn’t have responded to you but because you spoke and even mentioned my name, I had to, in order to put the record straight. Please avoid mentioning our names.”
